In the mid-1970s, when the Japanese started exporting quartz watches to Europe, it seemed nothing could halt their irresistible progress. But with their by now legendary development of the mechanical Da Vinci Chronograph, a team of IWC engineers successfully broke the trend towards quartz and the electronic chip. Now, IWC has given this classic timepiece and paterfamilias of the entire Da Vinci line, with all its intriguing mechanical features, a gentle overhaul that includes a sapphire glass, an enlarged diameter and a dial immediately reminiscent of the Rattrapante. So the chronograph in stainless steel and in 18 ct. rose gold ensures that the passion for mechanical movements rediscovered in 1985 continues undiminished.
