Glashütte Original represents a living, authentic manufactory and traditional watchmaking since 1845. Exclusive mechanical masterpieces “handmade in Glashütte/Germany” have founded the world-famous reputation of the small Saxon town. Even after the difficult post-war years, Glashütte Original was able to recapture the town’s previous successes, even in the international market.

Like Glashütte Original, Audi has Saxon roots as well as an eventful history. As one of Germany’s oldest automobile manufacturers, the company was established by August Horch in 1909 in Zwickau, and has been trading since 1910 under the Audi name, which is the Latin translation of Horch (in German: ‘Listen!’).

The company’s strategy was to build cars mainly for the luxury segment. Since 1932, the Audi emblem represents the famours ‘four rings’, which stand for the merger with DKW, Horch and Wanderer to form Auto Union AG in Chemnitz.
